While many municipal councils are actively encouraging new housing projects to boost their revenues, it is interesting to note that in 32 municipalities in Málaga province, not one new home has been sold during the period January 1st 2011 to September 30th 3011.
There are a further dozen municipalities where only one house has been sold, five where only two have been sold and eight where three new homes have been sold so far this year.
There are 69 municipalities where less than ten new homes have been sold during 2011. The stock of unsold new homes is expected to be between 15,000 and 20,000 at the end of the year.
Only five years ago, most new homes would have already been sold before the first brick was even laid. Not so today.
