Police in Cantillana, Sevilla, have detained a woman for allegedly stealing €600 from a 96 year old woman for whom she was acting as carer and cleaner.
The detainee regularly worked at the home of the 96 year old woman, caring for her and carrying out cleaning duties. One day, she told the old lady she had to carry out an inspection of the house.
During the course of this ‘inspection’, the old lady was locked out on the patio while the ‘carer’ proceeded to take €600 from a safe in the house. Neighbours came to the assistance of the old lady after hearing her screams after more than an hour on the patio.
The old lady told the police that she believed that money had also gone missing in the past. The detainee has been charged with theft and illegal detention.
