Sales of new passenger cars during 2011 were 808,059 units, down 17.7% on 2010 and the lowest figure since 1993.
None of the regions bucked the downward trend and only Baleares (2%), Canary Islands (2.3%) and Madrid (4.6%) showed more moderate declines. At the opposite end of the scale, the highest declines were Extremadura (36.3%) and Galicia (33.9%).
