A total of 7,951 new businesses were created in January, up 11% compared to January 2011, according to figures published by the National Statistics Institute (INE). However, in January, 3074 companies were dissolved, 7.9% more than during the same month in 2011, with 81% being voluntarily, 10.2% due to mergers and 8.8% for other reasons.
