Savoy Properties have installed a small office towards the bottom end of avenida Castilla Perez, the premises formerly a shoe shop. Bar Barbados has now got a For Sale sign on the door and this rather splendid old Morris Minor convertible was around yesterday.
I find it amazing, although far from surprising, that municipal officials are almost announcing with ‘pride’ that they are going to pay debts dating back a decade or more in some cases and that this could allow some businesses to ‘survive’. How many have gone under in the meantime?
Humility, embarrassment, apologies and more than a little grovelling would be more the order of the day. Shows a very cavalier attitude by those elected to power. Imagine what would happen if residents adopted the same attitude, refusing to pay rates, taxes etc for ten years.
Hard to imagine officials not receiving salaries, expenses, bonuses and other sundry perks on time.
