Police officers have found the body of a three year old boy who had been missing since Friday. The body was found at a landfill site in Dos Aguas, Valencia.
Police have detained two women who had been caring for the boy in the mother’s absence for their alleged involvement in the death and subsequent disappearance. The women initially maintained that the child had been kidnapped, but later changed their story to say that the boy had died as a result of an accident.
After his death, the women threw the body in a container in Valencia and it subsequently ended up in the landfill site. Up until Monday morning when the body was discovered, police had sifted through around 450 tons of garbage at the site.
The detainees have been remanded in custody.
