Local Police in Benalmádena have arrested a 21 year old Rumanian national who stole an SUV from outside a supermarket in Torremolinos. The vehicle had a baby inside.
The incident occurred at around 17:00 on Saturday. A woman had just come out of the supermarket with a trolley full of shopping and she put the baby in the car seat while she went to open the boot and put the shopping away.
While she was opening the boot, the alleged thief took the opportunity to jump into the vehicle and drive off at speed. He headed off towards Benalmádena and along avenida Antonio Machado where he decided to turn off to avoid busy roads and ended up in a dead-end.
Police found the man hiding under the vehicle and duly arrested him on suspicion of theft. The baby was unharmed and soon reunited with its mother.
