Rincón de la Victoria has become the first municipality in Málaga province to introduce a Local Police ‘bicycle unit’ and it will operate until September.
The unit will patrol the promenades of La Cala del Moral, Rincón de la Victoria and Torre de Benagalbón throughout the week from 18:00 to 01:00. This is the time period in summer when there is the most activity in these areas.
The unit will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the rules on use of the coastal strip, the correct use of municipal infrastructure (bike lanes and pedestrian areas), the proper use of public streets by citizens and the enforcement of municipal ordinances.
They will also be paying special attention to monitoring the deterioration of public furniture (playgrounds, lampposts, litter bins, leaky showers), compliance with the drought decree, control of street and beach vendors.
The initiative could be extended to cover the spring season.
