The search is continuing for Gordon Simm

The family of Gordon Simm, the 63 year old British hiker missing since setting out on a walk along the rio Chillar on July 21st, have today been taken into the hills around Nerja in the company of experienced local guide Michael Tweehuijsen.

Deborah McCloud, daughter of Gordon Simm, stated that she has not given up hope of finding her father alive, despite the difficulties involved in surviving many days lost in the mountains, especially in summer.

Mrs Simm, daughter Deborah, another son and a brother accompanied local guide Michael Tweehuijsen, an expert on the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park, to the area known as barranco de los Cazadores in order to see the area first hand and to be of any assistance if they possibly could.

Gordon Simm, an experienced hiker and frequent visitor to Nerja, set out on July 21st intending to complete his planned walk in one day and be back the following day, Sunday. This was not the first time that Mr Simm had attempted this particular walk and he was apparently determined to complete it on this occasion, despite reportedly being advised against undertaking the hike.

All our thoughts are naturally with the family at this time and we hope that Mr Simm is found safe and well, and soon.
