The Association of Municipalities of the Eastern Costa del Sol – Axarquia (Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Oriental-Axarquía) has voted unanimously to request the maintenance of such supra-municipal bodies.
This follows an announcement by the government of Mariano Rajoy that it is proposing an amendment to the autonomy laws to do away with such bodies in an attempt to slim down the administration and reduce costs during the financial crisis.
All parties, PP, PSOE, IU and PA, supported the motion.
