One would suspect that it is highly unlikely to be considered for one moment, but the Council has approved a motion asking the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment to introduce an affordable electricity tariff for farmers and ranchers.
Many farms rely upon groundwater for irrigation purposes and this often has to be lifted to great heights through the use of power-hungry pumping systems.
The Council believes a reduced tariff would make the farms and ranches more viable.
