The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment has accepted a request by the Nerja Council to include a sunbed and beach umbrella service for El Cañuelo beach in the 2013 Beach Plan. The Beach Plan itself still has to be approved by the Department of Coasts.
The Council has welcomed the approval, saying that the fact that El Cañuelo is in the Natural Park area should not prevent the supply of adequate equipment and services to bathers.
The sunbeds and umbrellas are not only a service for visitors, of course, but also provide municipal income through the auctioning of the concessions for beach services.
