The Local Police report that they have carried out 100 interventions against illegal street traders between July 21st and September 30th, confiscating 737 pairs of sunglasses, 647 items of clothing and 574 cd’s and dvd’s.
The majority of the interventions took place on Burriana beach (51) and the area around the Balcón de Europa (41). The total number of items confiscated was 3,657.
There were even a few interventions at the weekly and Sunday markets, mostly relating to fruit and vegetables.
The Local Police also found that particular nationalities specialised in certain activities or products: massage = Chinese, sunglasses, watches and cd’s = African, toys = Rumanian and clothes = Moroccan.
