Málaga 1-2 Real Sociedad

Málaga may well be doing well in Europe but they are beginning to lose sight of the leaders in La Liga after a second successive defeat, this time to Real Sociedad. Málaga are now ten points adrift and have played a game more than the leaders.

Carlos Veta put the visitors ahead after just one minute and they held on to their lead until just before the break when Saviola equalised. Xabi Prieto restored Real’s lead in the 59th minute and that’s the way it remained and it finished 1-2.

Bruno Gama and Riki gave Deportivo a great start against Zaragoza before an Apoño penalty kick pulled one back for the home side. However, it was all to change in the second half as Deportivo’s Pizi was given his marching orders.

Paco Montañés, Alvaro and Postiga (twice) all found the net for Zaragoza. Bodipo scored an injury time goal for Deportivo but it didn’t help as Zaragoza ran out winners, 5 goals to 3.
