Ronda council has announced the tendering process for the contract to build a new skate park and nine petanca courts, the project budgeted at €300,000 and financed out of municipal coffers. The project was included in the PP manifesto at the last municipal elections.
The new skate park will occupy 1,600 square metres of a 4,500 square metre plot next to the Sports Centre. The contract could be awarded in January 2013 and the skate park could be in operation by April 2013.
The old municipal skate park located within the El Fuerte Municipal Sports Area was condemned for failure to meet safety requirements and was left abandoned and ended up filled with rubbish. The Council decided to demolish it and create parking spaces.
