A 17 year old youth was killed and an 18 year old is in a serious condition in the Carlos Haya hospital after their scooter crashed on avenida Rey Juan Carlos I between Torre del Mar and Vélez-Málaga. No other vehicles were involved in the incident.
The accident happened at around midnight on Saturday. For reasons as yet unknown, the scooter hit the kerb, catapulting the driver into a tree and the passenger onto the road. Although both were wearing helmets, the driver was killed instantly.
The injured youth has injuries to his face and head and is in a stable but critical condition in the ICU at the Carlos Haya hospital.
