A meeting in Madrid between the management of the Network of Paradors and unions failed to produce an agreement and planned strikes by workers will take place on December 31st 2012 and January 1st 2013.
The management had offered to reduce the number of lay-offs nationwide from 644 to 350 in exchange for a 7% pay reduction and changes to holidays and paid leave.
The unions found the offer unacceptable and believe the ultimate objective of the Network of Paradors is privatisation of the chain. Another meeting has been scheduled for January 2nd 2013.
