Cleaning strike in Sevilla

The management of Lipasam, the municipal cleaning company in Sevilla, and unions are meeting today at the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment to discuss minimum service levels during the indefinite strike called as from January 28th.

The unions are protesting against the formula chosen by management for the implementation of an agreed 5% cut in wages and the introduction of the 37.5 hour working week.

An earlier meeting between Lipasam and the unions failed to reach an agreement on minimum services levels and this will now be decided by the Ministry. Lipasam had wanted a 40% minimum service for the first two days of the strike and 60% thereafter, but this was rejected by the unions who are suggesting 15% in the first week, 20% in the second week and 25% thereafter.
