In the Copa del Rey, the semi-final first leg match between Real Madrid and Barcelona ended in a 1-1 draw, both goals coming in the second half.
A typical ‘clasico’, Barcelona tried to slow things down while Real endeavoured to speed things up and it was a hard fought contest.
Barcelona took the lead early in the second half after Messi picked up a sloppy pass from Callejón and put Cesc Fabregas through to score. The equaliser came with just ten minutes to go, Varane heading in an Ozil cross. All to play for in the return leg, although Barcelona must be the obvious favourites now.
