Friday was another glorious day, very warm out in the sun and this attracted a lot of people down to Torrecilla beach to sunbathe or, in a few cases, take the plunge. The sea was nice and calm and looked quite clear. In fact, it’s been a pretty good week weather-wise.
Rosas clocks – this one is on the bell tower of the El Salvador church – have been around since 1881. In 2005, to preserve the craft, the company Campanas y Relojes Rosas was formed. The company not only produces clocks, but also bells, lighting and other items for monuments.
So, the former Numero Seis is going to become a new Italian restaurant, something to look forward to.
After years of struggling and slowly building up the area, the Donkey Sanctuary is going to have to move to a new site. This is due to the implementation of a law which, on health and safety grounds, doesn’t allow such facilities within 500 metres of a ‘nuclearised population’. The current sanctuary is only about 150 metres away.
New sites are already being explored but nothing has yet been decided. One of the advantages of the existing site, of course, is that proximity to the urban centre which makes it easier to attract visitors. Hopefully any new site will not too far out of town as to hinder the good works being done at the sanctuary.
