An 85 year man died and a 57 year old woman suffered smoke inhalation following a fire at their fourth floor home in calle Galeón in Almería city.
The fire occurred at around 09:30 on Sunday morning and necessitated the evacuation of the entire building. The blaze began in the living room of the fourth floor apartment, with smoke filling the entire building.
Firemen found the 85 year old man suffering from smoke inhalation and he was rushed to the Hospital Torrecárdenas but died on the way. The woman was treated at the scene.
The residents were allowed to return to their homes once the fire had been extinguished.
