Seven arrested for making false robbery claims

National Police in Vélez-Málaga have arrested seven people for crimes against the administration of justice, making false allegations and simulating crimes. Six of the detainees have also been charged with fraud.

A investigation began after an increase in reports of robbery with violence or intimidation and is was discovered that many of the allegations were faked and were for the purpose of collecting the insurance money for items allegedly stolen.

In one case, a man reported having been been the victim of a robbery, during which the robber had caused him numerous injuries all over his body with a knife. As it turned out, the man had apparently lost all his money playing slot machines and needed to hide the fact from his wife.
