Nerja has taken delivery of 111 new recycling containers, courtesy of the Málaga Provincial Council. The aim is to increase recycling in the town as well as prevent the build up of rubbish during the summer months.
The Provincial Council is providing extra recycling containers to all municipalities where there is a great population influx during holiday periods, particularly during the summer months. Nerja, of course, is definitely one of those.
Nerjeños recycle an average of 7.5 kilos per person per year, which is slightly below average, but it is hoped that this situation will change with more containers being available.
