Campaign to encourage recycling

The Málaga Provincial Council, through the Provincial Consortium for Urban Solid Waste (RSU), has initiated an informative campaign relating to environmental awareness and the importance of recycling to protect coastal ecosystems.

Recycling waste cooking oils

Torrox Council has reached a collaboration agreement with a newly formed local company, Davisol, for the collection of used cooking oils from houses in the municipality.

New waste recycling centre

To commemorate World Environment Day, Torrox Council inaugurated a new waste recycling centre – punto limpio – in Llano de la Almazara. Various local dignitaries were on hand for the ceremony.

More recycling containers

Nerja has taken delivery of 111 new recycling containers, courtesy of the Málaga Provincial Council. The aim is to increase recycling in the town as well as prevent the build up of rubbish during the summer months.

Recycling in Rincón de la Victoria

During 2012, Rincón de la Victoria recycled 10,690 litres of cooking oil from residential properties and another 10,000 litres from commercial establishments such as restaurants, hotels and cafes.

Council saves on recycling costs

During the period April to June, 69,000 kilos of agricultural plastic have been recycled without any cost to the municipal coffers, thanks to an agreement signed with the company Salas, Suministros y Recuperaciones Industriales. Under the previous arrangement, the same task would have cost the Council €14,400.

Recycling agricultural plastic waste in Torrox

Torrox Council has reached an agreement with a specialist company for the proper recycling of plastic waste materials from the greenhouses in the municipality, an initiative which will save around €14,400 for the municipal coffers.

Improved waste collection in Algarrobo

Algarrobo Council is installing new recycling bins and a cardboard compactor to improve waste collection in the main industrial area, La Peña, a project being carried out in collaboration with the Málaga Provincial Council.
