A 34 year old woman who went into labour on Wednesday ended up giving birth in a van outside the hospital in Vélez-Málaga.
The woman went into labour at her home in Nerja and was taken by a family member to the hospital, arriving at around 20:00 on Wednesday evening. However, the baby apparently decided it was time to put in an appearance and out it popped. Medical staff at the hospital had to assist with the completion of the birth inside the van as the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck.
The baby, who weighed 3.5 kilos, was admitted to hospital due to complications with the umbilical cord but is reportedly in good health. The mother was admitted to the maternity ward and she is also reportedly in good health.
