The Ministry of Health and Welfare has declared the existence of a public health risk in all areas of the municipality of El Coronil, Sevilla province, due to the accumulation of uncollected rubbish as a result of the strike by cleaning staff. The strike began on January 8th 2013.
The amount of uncollected rubbish, and its proximity to schools, nurseries, day care centres and food storage areas is considered a real health risk by the Ministry and they propose to continue making inspections.
The Ministry has also requested the mayor of El Coronil to take steps to resolve the situation.
