The Mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, has attended a meeting in Madrid with the Minister of Environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, the Director General of Water, Liana Ardiles, and the Minister of Justice, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, to discuss the proposed sewage treatment plant.
The Minister of Environment expects the company awarded the sewage plant contract to present the final draft project within the next month. Once presented, the Ministry technicians will study the final draft and, if and when approved, the actual work can begin.
Everything is still based upon the deadline of 2015 for zero discharges into the sea.
