The bullfighter Julián López “El Juli” has undergone surgery for a second time after being gored during a bullfight in Maestranza on Friday.
After a seemingly successful operation, El Juli was transferred to the wards on Saturday morning but later began to complain of pain and swelling in his leg. He was transferred to the ICU at the Hospital Sagrado Corazón in Sevilla where a new scan revealed internal bleeding and he underwent a second operation on his leg.
Surgery lasted two hours and El Juli required three litres of blood. Doctors have not yet determined the recovery time from the injury.
