Police have dismantled a network specialising in the cultivation and trafficking of marijuana on a large scale between Spain and Holland, arresting 21 people so far and uncovering 15 marijuana plantations in Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Coin, Alhaurin de la Torre and Vélez-Málaga.
For the first time, a European warrant has been used to seize properties valued at €4.4 million, with 18 of these being located in Holland and 5 in Spain.
The detainees are mostly Dutch nationals. Over 13,000 marijuana plants have been seized from the plantations dotted along the Costa del Sol. In addition to the cultivation of marijuana for export to Holland, the group handled ecstasy shipments from Holland for distribution along the Costa del Sol.
The organisation was highly organised and very professional and the plantations were highly sophisticated.
