Campillos Council is preparing to lease municipal land, a 1,500 square metre plot at El Moralejo, to young people and unemployed for the purpose of growing vegetables for their own consumption, donation to others or for sale through the implementation of a sustainable commercial enterprise.
The Council aims to provide workshops and courses to teach people about when to plant the various crops and how to nurture them and hopes that people will also ‘sponsor’ the plots by providing their wisdom in such matters.
The Council will draw up a set of rules relating to the plot which will include such edicts as ‘no harsh fertilisers’.
