A 9 year-old boy drowned on Monday after falling into the río Miño in Salvaterra. His 12 year-old brother is missing after jumping in to try and save him.
The incident occurred at 18:27 when the two brothers and a friend, all Moroccan nationals, were walking along the side of the river and one of them fell in. His brother jumped in to try and save him while the friend went to get help.
Neighbours in the area managed to get the young boy out of the water but were unable to save his life.
The search for the missing boy continues.
