There are several of the derelict old ‘casa de peones camineros’ – houses used by road builders – in the municipality and the Council has made numerous attempts to obtain jurisdiction over these premises so they can be renovated and put to good use.
The latest attempt is a repeat request to the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration of the Junta de Andalucia to cede the premises in calle San Miguel in Maro to the Council for use as a Tourist Information Centre covering the village of Maro and the Natural Park.
The previous request relating to this property was made two years ago and to date, no reply has been forthcoming from the Junta de Andalucia, according to the Council.
