The National Police have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of being responsible for seven robberies in the municipality.
Police began an investigation following a number of complaints of robberies within the municipality, all carried out while the owners were at home.
The thief took advantage of the fact that many people leave their windows open during the summer and entered via the terraces. He then took jewellery, cash and other valuable items. It was thought that the individual had a good knowledge of the area.
A local Vélez-Málaga resident was identified as the alleged perpetrator of the robberies and was duly arrested.
