Following a meeting held at the Ministry of Environment, the Mayor of Nerka, José Alberto Armijo, has announced that the sewage plant project could be approved by the Directorate General of Water at the end of this month or in October.
The Mayor met with officials from the Economic and Infrastructure branches of the Ministry to check on progress with the project.
The Mayor added that in an earlier meeting in Madrid with Minister Arias Cañete and in the presence of Justice Minister Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, he obtained a commitment from the Ministry of Environment that construction of the sewage plant could start at the end of this year.
The Mayor said he hopes that the objectives can be met and that the start of construction can be a reality by the end of the year.
