A young immigrant dies of malnutrition in Sevilla

A 23-year-old man died on Wednesday at the municipal shelter in Sevilla while waiting in the queue for lunch. He had just been discharged from the Virgen del Rocio hospital and showed signs of malnutrition.

The man, a Polish national, weighed around 30 kilos when he reached the shelter on calle Perafán de Ribera after receiving a medical discharge in the Virgen del Rocio hospital.

The hospital alerted the Municipal Emergency Social Services that the man had been transferred to the shelter where he was given breakfast. At around 14:00 he was found dead on a couch while waiting in the queue for lunch.

First indications are that death was the result of natural causes but police have opened an investigation and are awaiting forensic reports.
