In what universe?

Lord Sugar has been investigated by police after a complaint by one person, Liverpool shop owner Nichola Szeto, that he had posted a racist message on Twitter.

Lord Sugar posted a photo of a child, apparently of Chinese origin, crying and wrote: “The kid in the middle is upset because he was told off for leaving the production line of the iPhone 5.”

Merseyside Police said it had investigated a complaint but concluded that no criminal offences had taken place.

One doubt’s Lord Sugar will lose any sleep over the incident. It is an age where every uttered word is analysed and scrutinised and where having or, heaven forbid, expressing a personal opinion not conforming to the prevailing trend, seems to attract complaints of ‘somethingophobia’ or accusations of this ‘ism’ or that ‘ism’.

And that means having to be overly careful before writing almost anything. But for a single complaint to result in a team of investigators being called in seems to be rather OTT and a waste of time and taxpayer money.
