Copper wire thieves arrested in Benalmádena

Local Police in Benalmádena have arrested three people on suspicion of stealing copper wire from within the municipality over the past few months, an act which not only inconveniences the local residents but also drains the municipal coffers.

The three detainees are residents of Fuengirola. Year to date, around 11,120 metres of cabling has been stolen in Benalmádena, costing the municipality in the region of €41,000 in repair costs.

The stolen copper wire has a black market value of around €10,000.
