Police in Madrid arrested five people on Saturady after a number of containers were set on fire and rubbish scattered. he city is in the throes of a strike by cleaning staff.
The unions are objecting to a redundancy plan (ERE) affecting 1,134 out of a total workforce of around 6,000 workers.
Several other people involved in incidents have been identified and further arrests could follow.
