Congress has given the green light for parliament to proceed with the reform of the Traffic Act.
Reform proposals include raising the speed limit to 130 kph on certain stretches of road, compulsory helmets for cyclists in towns and cities and doubling the fine for driving under the influence of drink or drugs to €1,000.
The reform will now begin its parliamentary career.
