Police in Almonte, Huelva, have arrested a 25-year-old Ecuadorian national on suspicion of the criminal assault and kidnapping of his former girlfriend whom he allegedly handcuffed, sedated and, on several occasions, sexually assaulted her.
The police investigation began after a Bolivian woman reported that she was convinced that her 23-year-old sister had been the victim of domestic violence by her former partner.
The police investigation led to the discovery of the location where the woman was being held. The woman was found in a state of stress and with a number of injuries.
The alleged perpetrator had to be subdued after he resisted arrest. The victim was already the subject of a protection order with respect to her former partner.
The victim had apparently been drugged and then taken to a house in Almonte where she was tied up and subjected to regular sexual abuse.
