Nerja Council is collaborating with an environmental awareness campaign aimed at local primary schools by placing two wheelie bins, for recycling paper and packaging, at the Narixa and Joaquín Herrera schools, the bins having been provided by the Provincial Council.
The campaign is an initiative of the Provincial Consortium for Solid Waste to raise awareness about recycling of rubbish.
Pupils at the two schools in Nerja expressed an interest in joining the campaign and the Council hopes to extend the initiative to other schools in the municipality.
Nerja is apparently the leading municipality in the Axarquia and one of the top in Málaga province when it comes to recycling waste.
