Local Police in Málaga have referred a case to Social Services in which five minors were left alone in an apartment and where a fire subsequently broke out.
A 15-year-old girl, the oldest child, alerted the Fire Brigade when she noticed a fire in the kitchen. When the Fire Brigade arrived they found a 29-year-old man, father and uncle to the children, fast asleep.
The man had apparently left the children alone while he went out for drinks. When he arrived home, inebriated, he decided to warm some food. He left the food cooking and went for a sleep. The man claims not to remember anything of the incident.
He has been arrested and faces charges of abandoning minors and starting a fire.
