An 86-year-old man died of smoke inhalation on Monday night after fire broke out in his home in calle Muñoz Seca in the La Hispanidad district of Huelva city.
The fire began at around 22:00 in the living room of the fourth floor dwelling. Firefighters and medics tried to revive the man but were unsuccessful.
The building was evacuated while firefighters extinguished the fire but residents were later allowed to return to their homes. No-one else was injured in the incident.
