An 11-month-old baby was seriously injured and his 10-year-old sister suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car while they were having a family picnic in a recreation area near Canena, Jaén.
The vehicle apparently went off the road and crashed into the family who, along with dozens of others, were enjoying a day in the countryside.
The baby, who suffered head injuries, was taken to hospital by helicopter. His condition is said to be very serious. The sister was treated for minor injuries and later discharged from hospital.
The driver of the vehicle tested positive for alcohol.
