Counterfeit clothes to charity rather than being destroyed

In a surprisingly common sense and useful decision, the Criminal Court Number 6 in Granada has accepted a petition from Granada Council to donate counterfeit clothing seized by Local Police to humanitarian organisations.

This is the first time a judge has accepted such an application and this instance it will mean that 459 pieces will go to around 400 needy children via the charity Ciudad de Niños in Granada.

In 2012, there were 1,142 interventions by Local Police which resulted in the destruction, by court order, of 39,258 items of counterfeit clothing. In 2013 there were 57,148 items destroyed. What a waste.
