A delegation of Council officials visited the works being carried out by the Junta de Andalucia at the Nueva Nerja school.
The Councillor for Education and Culture expressed concern at the state of the works to install the lift in the building and the impact it could have on pupils who will shortly be starting the new academic year at the facility.
The Councillor has reportedly contacted the Department of Education to request maximum security measures to be taken to avoid any potential harm to students.
On the other hand, the Councillor reported that the works carried out by the municipal authority, including demolition work, have already been completed.
The Councillor has decided that, for the time being, entry to the school will be via the sports hall until the work is completed.
