More detentions for fraud in Almeria, Cádiz and Málaga provinces

National Police officers have raided a number of businesses in Almeria, Cádiz and Málaga provinces in relation to ongoing investigations into fraud relating to training programmes and grants, with as many as 90 people expected to be arrested or charged.

Current and former mayors, councillors and businessmen are amongst those detained or charged so far in this latest investigation.

In Almeria, the Councillor for Roquetas de Mar and PSOE secretary Juan Fernando Ortega Paniagua has been detained, as has his wife, ex-wife and daughter. Around 40 people are expected to be detained or charged in Almeria.

In Málaga, ten companies have come under scrutiny and in Cádiz, the former mayor of Jerez, Pilar Sánchez, is once again implicated in wrongdoing.
