Three people drowned and a fourth person is critically ill in hospital following a tragic accident at La Venus beach in Marbella yesterday.
The deceased are two students from Turkey aged 18 and 19 and their teacher aged 30 who were visiting the Costa del Sol as part of a larger group of deaf students from the same turkish school, whilst a third student aged 18 is currently in Costa del Sol hospital. Early reports indicate that the young students got into difficulties in the water and their teacher went in to help them. Sadly it seems no lifeguard was present on the beach and by the time emergency services arrived it was too late to help the three victims despite first aid help from other holidaymakers on the beach.
The Marbella council has declared the town in mourning following this extremely sad event.
