Political change in the wind?

The pact which allowed the the PSOE and IU to rule as a minority government in Nerja has reportedly been renounced by the two members of Ciudadanos following the publication on social media of ‘abusive’ and ‘insulting’ remarks by the first deputy mayor, José Garcia Beltrán.

A post election pact between the PSOE, IU, Ciudadanos and EVA-Podemos allowed the PSOE and, by extension as usual, the IU, to rule the municipality as a minority government. This has now been put in danger following the withdrawal of support, reportedly ‘irreversible’, by the opposition group Ciudadanos.

Whether or not this situation actually leads to change remains to be seen, it will no doubt depend upon political manoeuverings in the background.
