British artists work goes on display in Nerja

Organised by the Nerja Department of Culture, an art exhibition titled “Curious Stories” has gone on display in the Municipal Exhibition Hall.

The works of art were all created by British artist and Nerja resident Melissa Launay who graduated from the Seville Faculty of Fine Arts.

Melissa’s professional career is centred around the UK where she is represented by three galleries: Jonathan Cooper Gallery and The Russell Gallery (both in London) and Brian Sinfield Gallery in The Cotswolds.

Three times a year Melissa also has her paintings on display at the Affordable Art |Fair in London.

Apart from her paintings, Mellissa has also illustrated numerous books published in the United States and the United Kingdom. For four years she was also the main muralist for the Charity Kids Company where she designed, directed and painted several children’s centres.

Melissa’s style is often characterised as being dreamlike while exploring mystery, imagination, curiosity and astonishment. Her use of intense colours, while maintaining attention to detail helps create a world of magic and calm.

Melissa Launay’s work has featured in many exhibitions across the UK and had received much praise. Now anyone who enjoys art will have the opportunity to see some of her fine work right here in Nerja.

The exhibition will be open to the public until September 15th from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
